Report 26th January 2012. Bedworth
Ex Service maintained their campaign to secure another league
championship, when they visited Trojans this week. Shooting first the Bedworth side
first half was below their usual form, with Andrew Cryer 29, being top
score, with a pair of 27s in support. Trojans with a 29s from Leigh Hall
and Rob Forman, managed to secure a slim half time lead. After the break Bedworth shifted
up a gear with 29 from Bill Bend and 28s from James Bend and Bob
Wagstaff. Despite a 29 from
Trojans last man Chris Sills they were not able to secure the League
points although they won the Yates points. Result Trojans 190 & 10,
Bedworth Ex Service 194 & 5. Sporting
Lions maintained their position in the runners up spot, although their
match with Ashby Rd A could have gone either way. Put to the target first by Ashby
Rd, the Lions reliable first half had 30 from Karl Bunting with 29s from
Glen Dainter and Ian Roberts. The Roaders with 29s from David White and
Alison Finney were a little behind at the half way stage. After the break the Lions resumed,
despite a 29 from Mollie Harris and 28 from Dave Harris, they had just
left to door open for the Roaders.
Unfortunately with some regular members absent, the Road side fell
just short with 28 from Chris Rose, Richard White 29 and a maximum from
Pete Finney. Result Sporting Lions 199 & 12, Ashby Rd 198
& 14. The
Road B side also had an off night in their match with Hinckley Phoenix,
but still managed to win both competitions. The Roaders with 28s from Craig
Shuttleworth and Jon Storer just took the half time honours from the
Phoenix who had Sam Haskins with 29. After the break the Road side
continued with a pair of 27s and 28 from Tom Middleton. This was just to much for the
Phoenix whose top score was 27s from Roxy Brown and Geoff Herbert.
Result Ashby Rd B 191 & 14, Hinckley Phoenix 188 &
11. Taylor
& Ayre returned to form this week as they dominated their match with
Smallshaws. Shooting first Smallshaws with 28 from Pete Goode and a brace
of 27s, were overshadowed as all of T&As first squad scored 29, giving
them a significant half time lead.
Smallshaws second half with top score Simon Grewcock 27, was not enough
to put pressure on T&A, who had 29s from Matt Hall & Darren
Hicks. Result Taylor
& Ayre 202 & 12, Smallshaws 185 &
11. Prince
of Wales also showed good form when they entertained Stoney Stanton. The Princes with 30 from John
Bray, 29 from Phil Larkin and 28s from Tom Bray and Alex Wood, all shot
above their average to take maximum Yates points. In reply Stanton with a Paul
Huddlestone 30 and 29 from Richard Allen had to go home empty handed. Result Prince of Wales 195
& 14, Stoney Stanton 189 & 13. |
